Important safety notice for bras in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2023/988 on general product safety (GPSR)

This is a targeted safety notice for the correct and safe use of bras (cotton, microfiber, modal, bamboo, lace; with underwires/without underwires, padded/non-padded, push-up, sports, bralettes, balconette, with metal/plastic underwires, hook closures, front closures, magnetic/metal elements, with removable straps and nursing models). Since they may contain small, sharp or metal parts, elastic elements exerting pressure, and may cause discomfort or irritation if the size is incorrect, please follow the instructions below.

Basic safety and handling principles

• Keep out of reach of children: Hooks, clasps, removable pads and decorations pose a choking hazard; the product is not a toy.
• Check before use: Inspect seams, underwires, hooks, eyes, straps and cups; do not use if the underwire is broken, wire is protruding or the closure is cracked.
• Sharp/metal parts: Damaged metal parts can cause cuts or scratches; replace the product if there are signs of corrosion or deformation.
• Magnetic/metal parts: Remove bras with metal or magnets during MRI scans and security checks as instructed by personnel.
• Flammability: Fabrics are flammable; avoid contact with open flames and sparks.

Correct and safe use

• Correct size and fit: The bra must not restrict breathing or cause pain; underwires should rest against the rib cage, not breast tissue.
• Pressure and adjustment: Adjust the band and strap length so they do not dig in or cause pressure marks; alternate models during prolonged wear.
• Activities: Use a sports bra with appropriate support level (low/medium/high impact) and without loose decorations for sports.
• Nursing models: Open closures with one hand without excessive pulling; ensure skin is not pinched and nipples are not irritated.
• Sensitive situations: After surgery, during inflammation, pregnancy or significant weight changes, choose soft, wireless models and consult a specialist.

Cleaning, maintenance and storage

• Wash according to label: Gentle cycle/hand wash in a mesh bag is recommended, fasten hooks before washing; avoid bleach and harsh detergents.
• Drying: Do not dry on radiators or in tumble dryers (cup deformation, elastane damage); dry flat away from direct sunlight.
• Shaping and underwires: Do not bend cups or underwires; store flat or hung so they do not become misshapen.
• Metal/magnetic parts: After contact with sweat/salty water, wipe dry to prevent corrosion and fabric discoloration.

Specific health warnings

• Allergies and sensitive skin: Some metals (e.g. nickel in clasps), dyes and latex in elastics may cause reactions; choose hypoallergenic models if redness or itching occurs.
• Pain and chafing: Tight bands, stiff underwires or rough seams can cause pressure marks and back/shoulder pain; adjust size or type accordingly.
• Support and posture: Insufficient support for larger breasts may cause discomfort; use wider straps and reinforced cups.

Disposal

• Sorted waste and textile collection: Clean, wearable items should be handed in for reuse; damaged textiles should be given to textile collection. Separate metal underwires/hooks if possible and pack safely.

Incidents and contact

• In case of an incident (allergic reaction, injury from underwire/hook, skin damage) stop using the product immediately. Keep the product and proof of purchase for complaint handling.
